Being a clinical simulation trainer is a complex and dynamic task due to the different roles that one has to play throughout the development, implementation and application of a simulation-based course/program. This course is aimed at health professionals who use clinical simulation as a pedagogical method and want to enhance learning and transfer of knowledge/skills.
In this mostly practical training, relevant concepts inherent to the work of healthcare teams (e.g. non-technical skills) and the importance of clinical simulation in training these skills will be addressed. Participants will design, implement and conduct clinical simulation scenarios that promote the acquisition and transfer of skills (technical and non-technical), as well as conduct structured debriefings oriented to the transfer of skills to clinical practice.
Since 2015, FMUP has been providing training in this area in partnership with the European group of trainers in clinical simulation (EUSIM). This course is accredited with 2.5 ECTS by the University of Porto. Additionally, a certificate of participation will be issued by EUSIM.
